WILMINGTON, DE — Following Thursday's Wilmington Rotary candidate forum with incumbent Senator Chris Coons, the campaign for Dr. Mike Katz declared victory, citing his focus on the challenges facing Delaware families and businesses, independent leadership, practical solutions, and government accountability on the first day of Delaware's early voting.

A pediatric critical care anesthesiologist, business executive, and former Democratic State Senator, Katz challenged the political status quo, focusing on issues directly affecting Delawareans, including rising healthcare costs, housing affordability, energy prices, education, and the state's economic future.

Katz questioned the results of 16 years of representation by Senator Coons, emphasizing the need to move beyond Washington politics and address the problems confronting Delaware families, seniors, and businesses.

"I take no corporate or special interest money. I am not for sale. My decisions will not be dictated by special interests, political parties, or any presidential administration," Katz told the audience.

"My responsibility is to the people of Delaware, to all of you. We must put an end to the hatred and division fueled by our two political parties, elected officials, and the news media."

"I'll bring leadership to the United States Senate to heal our divides, unify our state and nation, and work with Democrats, Republicans, and independents to solve complex problems."

"People over party. Service above self."

Katz also emphasized his approach to solving complex problems.

"As a pediatric critical care anesthesiologist, business executive, and former Democratic State Senator, I've cared for patients, managed health care operations, developed policy, and started, built, and run successful businesses," Katz stated.

"That is how I work. I identify the root cause, develop practical solutions, and get things done."

Campaign Reports Continuing Threats, Harassment, and Cyberattacks

The forum followed serious disruptions to the Katz campaign's communications operations Wednesday, including interference that prevented the campaign from completing its scheduled statewide address and disrupted voter outreach programs.

In a statement from Katz Campaign Manager Hunter Dworsky, the campaign has experienced repeated threats, harassment, cyberattacks, and interference with campaign operations over the past six months.

The campaign is taking appropriate steps to document and address these incidents through the proper authorities and legal channels.

"This situation carries profound significance. Our campaign has faced repeated serious threats, harassment, cyberattacks, and interference with our ability to communicate with Delaware voters," said Dworsky.

"When political opposition is silenced, campaign personnel are intimidated, and communications are deliberately disrupted, the democratic process itself is threatened."

"These actions have no place in a free society. Our campaign will not be intimidated, silenced, or deterred from communicating directly with the people of Delaware."

Despite these continuing challenges, the Katz campaign remains committed to communicating directly with Delaware voters, advancing practical solutions to the state's problems, and putting people ahead of political interests.

Early voting began October 22 and continues through November 1. Election Day is November 3.
