There are moments when everything changes in an instant.
I have experienced those moments, and they shape how you think, how you lead, and how you act when it matters most.
For many years, I cared for critically ill children as a pediatric critical care anesthesiologist. In that role, there are moments you never forget.
A child is in surgery. Everything appears stable and then suddenly, something changes. Alarms sound. The room shifts instantly. Nurses, surgeons, specialists, everyone moves quickly. But in those first seconds, all eyes turn to the team for direction.
In that moment, there is no time for debate. No room for confusion. No place for ego.
What matters is calm, clear thinking and decisive leadership.
I have been in those moments where people are looking to you to lead, to take responsibility, and to fix the problem.
And I can tell you this:
When lives are on the line, excuses don’t matter. Results do.
Those moments stay with you. They shape how you think, how you lead, and they define the standard you hold yourself to every day.
It taught me to listen carefully, understand the problem, bring the right people together, make a plan, and then follow through.
That is how I led in medicine. It is how I continue to lead in business. And it is how I served in the Delaware State Senate.
Today, in many ways, Delaware is the patient.
Costs are rising. Trust is declining. Families are frustrated and looking for leadership that will step forward and solve problems. Not manage them, not talk about them, but fix them.
That is why I am running for the United States Senate.
Because this moment requires serious leadership. Leadership that understands how to diagnose problems, make decisions, and deliver results.
I would be honored to earn your support.
Warm regards,
Mike
